Day two. We are playing random games. This is a new Steam mechanic — for the first two days of the festival you can play random games, after which the selection becomes personalized and Steam starts suggesting games similar to the ones you play. It is meant to help sell us more games and wishlists.

Chess with territory capture. Two powerful strategic mechanics. Interesting, beautiful, challenging. Different maps and modes.
The gameplay is clear: you capture territory, the territory brings in money, with money you buy pieces, with pieces you beat the enemy pieces and capture even more territory.

The shape and size of the board are non-standard, the set of pieces is limited, and the pieces follow the rules of chess. And plenty of people know those. Because the board isn’t classic, you end up making “rookie” mistakes.
The game looks very bright, downright casual, but it keeps a sense of proportion — this isn’t a kids’ casual, it’s an all-ages casual visual )
The game feels nice to play. Good feedback through visual and sound effects. You can sense quality production.

The game already seems big, but on the very first level you feel something unfinished — at the end of a match (if you “decide” to lose and test this aspect of the game :D ) the bot behaves stupidly and doesn’t close out the win. And you can’t skip a turn, yet you have enough resources every turn to create new units — the result is a vicious circle where you can play forever, spawning a unit here and there.
A really solid tactical and strategic game. A definite wishlist, and good luck to the team.
