Playing Demos at Steam Next Fest — June 2026: Wall World Strategy

Day four. We are looking for something unusual — something we want to install and try.

A strategy game, a colony simulator like Frost Punk on a wall like Wall World, and a bit of a resource-mining simulator with a camera and tile-selection mechanic like in Dungeon Keeper.

Once more: Wall World + Frost Punk + Dungeon Keeper — all of these games (and the feelings from these games) come to mind while playing Wall World Strategy Demo.

Gameplay: we build a colony on a wall, essentially it’s a regular top-down view, but thanks to the design we see the game as a game on a vertical surface. We keep an eye on the economy, population, construction, and defense. In a separate mode we climb into the wall (inside) and there we mark out mining spots, and the characters automatically mine materials at a leisurely pace.

The game has many mechanics, it’s not just a strategy as it might seem from the name. It’s really a whole lot of everything. For fans of hardcore — it’s just the thing.

The good execution of the game is pleasing, the atmosphere is there: narrative, visuals, mechanics, sounds — everything is in harmony.

The game has clear placeholders (also known as greyboxes — stand-ins). But they are rare, and this is a demo (a high-quality one) after all, so they don’t spoil the overall impression.

Good luck to the team with such a powerful and ambitious project!
